Seven Granbury ISD Schools Earn TEA Purple Star Campus Designation

Seven Granbury ISD schools have earned the Texas Education Agency’s Purple Star Campus Designation for demonstrating outstanding support and commitment to military-connected students and their families.

The Granbury ISD campuses receiving the 2026–27 designation are:

  • Baccus Elementary School
  • Acton Elementary School
  • Emma Roberson Early Learning Academy
  • Brawner Elementary School
  • Oak Woods School
  • Granbury Middle School
  • STARS Accelerated High School

The designation is awarded for a two-year period covering the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years.

“We are proud of these seven campuses for earning this meaningful recognition,” Granbury ISD Superintendent Dr. Courtney Morawski said. “Military-connected students and families make tremendous sacrifices in service to our country. Our responsibility is to ensure they feel welcomed, supported and connected from the moment they arrive in Granbury ISD.”

The Purple Star Campus Designation recognizes Texas public schools that provide comprehensive support for military-connected students as they navigate the academic and personal challenges associated with frequent moves, family transitions and the deployment of a parent or guardian.

To earn the designation, each campus must appoint a campus-based military liaison, maintain an accessible webpage with resources for military families, implement a transition program for military-connected students and offer at least one additional initiative supporting military families.

“This designation reflects the intentional work of our campus leaders, counselors, teachers and staff members,” Morawski said. “Their efforts help military-connected students build relationships, adjust to a new school and continue progressing academically during times of transition.”

Established by the 86th Texas Legislature through Senate Bill 1557, the Purple Star Campus program began during the 2020–21 school year. Each fall, TEA recognizes campuses that apply and meet the state’s established criteria.
